Dunaliella salina is a halotolerant microalgae extract rich in carotenoids, primarily β-carotene in both all-trans and 9-cis forms, along with lutein and zeaxanthin. These compounds provide effective lipid-phase antioxidant protection and help improve photostability. Its lipophilic nature allows easy integration into oil phases and biological membranes. This supports membrane stabilization and reduces oxidative stress caused by UV exposure. In addition, its provitamin A activity contributes to skin conditioning and tone enhancement. Dunaliella salina is suitable for cosmetic, nutraceutical, and functional formulations requiring both performance and natural color alignment.
