Grand Mandelic Acid

Grand Mandelic Acid is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) derived from almonds. Due to its larger molecular size (twice that of glycolic acid), it penetrates the skin more slowly, leading to less irritation, making it suitable for moderately sensitive skin. It provides gentle exfoliation, promoting cell renewal while improving skin texture and luminosity. This acid is particularly effective as an adjuvant treatment for dyschromias (such as melasma, often seen in pregnancy) and for enhancing overall skin radiance. It also supports collagen and elastin production, aiding in skin regeneration. With a pKa of 3.51, Grand Mandelic Acid dissociates rapidly at pH levels above 2.5. At the physiological pH of the skin (around pH 4.5–5.5), it is almost completely dissociated, meaning that for optimal effectiveness, the pH of the formulation needs to be kept very low. A higher concentration alone does not necessarily guarantee better results, as the pH level plays a crucial role in its dissociation and overall efficacy.
